Desert Layers Mug- 22 fl. oz- 360 Degree Series

This mug was inspired by my recent adventures to Arizona. The layers of the desert and cactus continue around the whole mug as part of my 360 degree design series. 

Each Mug is first thrown on a potter's wheel, then when the mug is dry enough a handle is attached. I then sketch my design before I carve into the clay. It is then placed into its first firing after it is completely dry. Once out of the bisque firing, I fill in the carvings with a black glaze to highlight the detail. I then use needle bottles and small brushes to "paint" the scene with glazes. For the last step, it is placed back into the kiln for the final glaze firing to cone 6. Each piece I make is an original ,no two are exactly the same!
